I've been searching for info but can't seem to find it;
Can whisker shrimps take brackish water? 1.005?

Not having much luck with that. A local shop has them listed as such. They basically look like a really big ghost shrimp, say 2-3" long with quite long forarms.

Google search on Macrobrachium Shrimp. Mostly they do breed near or at BW, or rather release their hatchlings there, as they have a planktonic juvenile period. All of the adults I have kept do best however at standard FW conditions. There are hundreds of species of long-arms I believe.

Basically a freshwater prawn then? I've seen those things in action and those little buggers are mean! Cousin had a few in a pond (prawn about 16" not including the claws extended, that would make them around 27 ish) they chased koi....

M. rosenbergii I think is that huge species. I kept one in a 50, which was too small for it. But they are really wild beasts - when he came out of his refuge, guests have been known to freak. Looks like SciFi come to life:

And the real killer:

Damn! Those are some big prawns.. where's the butter?
Wish I knew exactly what type of shrimp/prawns I'm looking at in the shop.. I'd like to get them in my new brakish tank since they look large enough to fend off the F8s and I have lots of places for them to hide... guess I could always just try them out.
