GPS See colors?

I am currently creating a larger tank for my GPSs. I am looking around ebay for different decorations. I like lots of color..so before I color coordinate I was wondering if GPS or any other puffers prefer one color over another. Can they see in color?

Not at all.

But I think that darker gravel will show more colorful Puffer then a light color gravel for a viewer

I was thinking of going with a neon green for gravel (yes I know..crazy color)

One of my GPS is rather yellow

and the other is a typical green

But you have said darker so maybe an emerald green?

Right now they have purple/pink gravel..and that does show off there green/yellow..

My 2 GSPs don't like red! They go to the back of the tank if I am wearing a red t-shirt! However, my water change bucket is also red & they don't like that either. Started thinking that they didn't like water changes (therefore associated red with water changes) , but they "play" in the stream of new water as it comes in, so I don't think it can be that!

Red was the reason I was asking the question LOL
I hate red and therefore was excluding red from the tank..so I was wondering if they really did like red...if they wanted red in the tank.

Ok, red is out..thank goodness!

Most fish have good color vision.

I've heard of several fish disliking certain colors, but i don't remember having one. But then I am rather conservative in both my clothes and my tanks.

Most fish have good color vision.

50% of fish could be color blind, but "most" of the fish are recognizing the "shape" then a color.

I am afraid that I would need to see a good reference to accept that. Fish use their eyes and color sense quite similarly to birds, and color plays an enormous role in their lives.

Nearly every puffer I've owned has shown a very distinct dislike to bright reds and oranges. They often get over it quick enough, but approach their tank wearing a bright red or orange/yellow shirt and they freak out.

I agree with RTR, most fish can see in colour, some fish are even tetra-chromats so they have better vision than us!
