I have a 350 with really not a whole lot in it yet other then community fish and 2 pacu...so it s cycled good for about 6 months converted from a full reef , fish set up,(just tired of salt way to much involvemnt after years of doing it), Small pea size gravel usual decorations / rocks plants... I found a MBU but they are expensive and I hope they are are hardy only a 5 day garuntee and at that price , but i want a tank buster puffer always loved the puffers ... it seems that the Fahaka get large as well ... I guess cant have both so really dont know which one to get ? any ideas ...water quality and changes are really no big deal so I can maintain the water quality ...I kinda like them both is there really a huge size difference?

Equipment: Light house web based automated controller/sun/moonlight phasing, Giant UV w/ wiper, Medusa / heating cooling controller 2000 watts, Commercial Air Pump via two large airstones plumbed from garage, Modified Eshopps Wet-Dry rated 400 +gallon 1800GPH UPS , Auto water changer via 3 angled Koralia 4's to blow off bottom and 1.5 Hp pump plumbed through garage suction and fill ,(hands /gravel sucking free),, and Auto top off via sump level,

I don't think you can have either of those puffers in that tank. First, it's pretty fully stocked already. Second, mbus reach nearly three feet and require at least 1,000 (no typo!!!) gallons to themselves, with additional space for tankmates; most fahakas are too vicious to be kept with other fish and are not fit for the community aquarium.

If you're interested in puffers, you'll probably have to set up another tank. It would be totally worth it, though! Puffers are great.

Those 2 pacus will outgrow that tank, so I'd just stick with them for now. Mbus need a much larger tank eventually. so if you were to keep the pacus & mbu, figure on about 1,500g tank for all. Fahakas are too aggressive to keep with other fish.

There's lots of great info on fahakas and puffers in general here. Read around our Library and PufferPedia - they're under the Learn tab.

I actually downscalled I had enough filtration for 5000gallons...when I have time to downsize pics ill get some pics posted ...iam in commercial building maintenance and I do alot of automation as well but yea took some years to automated i can even get on via web to make changes ...i dont have to siphon gravell anymore either thats nice ...just hook up my extension tube program on the sweepers above the gravel then the HP pump 125GPM sucks all the debri out....I have it running inside the walls through the over 3 rooms then down into the attic...

its only 3" inches they did have a pick online but when i bought she took it off....I have another large tank in the other living area / play room that I only have a large water turtle with a few large goldfish....they will go there ....I have feed them mostly spirulana,(never live food or meat), all there life so they are brilliant Red very colorful...I also have a large pond in the backyard that I have some monster largemouth in but i dont think Pacus can handle anything below 50% ...
