So I did a little aquascaping in my 10 when I moved it back to college with me. I just finished dealing with a BGA problem, so hopefully it won't be coming back anytime soon. The plant list is wisteria, brazilian sword, and anubias nana. hope you all enjoy.

That is really pretty side19, very well done! I love that rock shown in photo 2 -- really nice, I'd love to have something like that in one of my tanks. Is this tank for your dwarf puffers at all, or other fish?

thanks everyone. i actaully have a question though. i'm having some issues with BGA and it seems to only grow on the wisteria. i'm thinking if i get rid of the wisteria and replace it with another type of plant my BGA problem might go away. my questions is does this seem like a logical answer? also what other plant can i get to replace it. i want it to provide alot of leafy cover just like the wisteria and i want it to grow fast to it will get about as larger as the wisteria quickly. i'm also wondering what you all think about switching the substrate over to sand. i have tow ideas in mind, standard beige sand, or black fourite sand (can't remember if its flourite or arrgonite, its the stuff for freshwater planted tanks) and how you would go about doing that with out having to do a mini cycle of the tank all over again. my mom picked up some "aqua fern" for me because it looked feathery and would work well as a substitute for the wisteria but i've been doing a little research on it and it seems to not be an aquatic plant at all and will just die. any input on any of this would be great. thanks again for the comments, i'm glad you all like it.

I can't answer your question about the Wisteria, but as to changing your tank over to sand, there shouldn't be any issues. As long as you keep the same filter, which has bacteria in it, that's all that matters. Obviously the substrate (gravel) has bacteria in it too, but you're not going to lose what's in the filter and that's the most important part. So I don't see why there should be anything for you to worry about in regards to changing to sand. Personally, I like anything that resembles nature, so I myself would not go for the black, but having said that, some tanks look really nice with a black or darkened substrate.
And you do have to be careful, there's alot of plants that are sold as "aquatic" when they are really only marginal plants which prefer to have their roots in water, but the plant out of the water. They look nice, so you get them and they seem okay, but then they die shortly after putting them in and end up making a mess and you've spent your money on nothing!

i is the aqua fern really not aquatic then? i just want some input here before i decide what to do with it. and yeah i like the look of natural much better, i just thought the flourite was better for the plants. hopefully i'll be getting the sand soon and will switch it over once i do (or possibly when i bring the tank home for the summer, since during the move i can just take the gravel out and put the sand straight in since everything will be out of the tank anyway).

If you're asking me, I'd have to see it in order to determine if the plant in question is truly aquatic.

i'll take a couple pictures, they might not turn out well though because i don't want to open the package in case i need to return them.
