fahaka color changing question

i know they change with mood and for cammoflauge and such..... but my fahaka seems to be lighter when the light is off and darker colored when the light is on.... why is that? he seems to be very vibrant and beautiful when the light is off.... and within 2 minutes, hes back to his dark self when i turn on the lights.

i do have black rocks which could be coaxing him to turn dark more frequently. but why would he be brighter when the light is off? isnt that the opposite of cammoflauging himself?

also, i added a TON of new plants today.... and now, his yellow stripes seem to be getting a greenish tint to them.... does this happen to anyone elses fahaka? i only had a few plants here and there for him, but i just got like 5 large plants to put in there and his color seems to be matching it.... im not complaining... i actually think its quite pretty, i just didnt know they had the ability to change their stripes from yellow to green

Most puffers, and many other fish, have different colors for night and day. Most fish seem to favor lighter colors at night.

I would think that mood would also play a part in his colouration. When my Mbu is resting his colouring is very light, but when he's up and about, he goes much darker. And when he's agitated (like when I'm cleaning his tank), he gets VERY dark. So I don't think your Fahaka changing colours is anything to worry about. :)

it didnt really worry me, i just wish he would be the same color when he is awake as when he is sleeping... its so bright and vibrant.... guess ill need some lighter color gravel for that... that would probably clear brighten him up
