ola. so Jabba wants a new home for christmas, she gets whatever she wants just ask her lol.
her current tank 72x18x30.
new tank 72x30x24 im building the tank myself the stand is big too 40" tall its going to be a room divider room sort of see threw kitchen to living room / other way around.

still to do on stand 10" more of cc acrylic (making a 90 gallon oh @##$ overflow tub) have to plum the uv lighting to the sump.

the lighting hood is complete tg for cheap stainless and a mig (still to do have electrical box installed in roof.)
holes are drilled hoping to have tank assembled tomorrow ( I know its christmas but my gf is in mexico so what else to do but build jabbas home )

filtration on this build is a little tricky using an Marineland Acrylic Sump - Model 4 and 2 x fx5's
my plan is to have the bulkhead inlets 1/4 inch above glass base a gravel guard like undergravel filter above it with one return line1/2" above the gravel guard and 360" spray bar hooked up to that, other return will be attached to top rim with the 360 return as well. how im going to make it all work is still up for debate i considerd having the fx5's draw from the sump but beings they shut off every 24 hrs for 2 mins it wouldnt be a good thing. anyways comments suggestions please?.

That looks cool so far .. I like the filtration units .. just a little pricy for me.

Recomendation.. put in a couple of cross beams "X" on the sides and back to prevent sway. Doubled 2x4s in the corners are a good idea but 4x4 would have been better. They don't twist as much over time.

I cut 90's out of the 2x4's so they fit together like puzzle before glue but yes after I anchor it to the existing frame work of the kitchen bar .cross supports are a good idea/ (i still have to get it up stairs lol)
really stuck on how to keep sump, or go with just sump, or canisters. (4 holes was to many alrdy for 1 pane of glass me thinks.)
new problem I have is inline heaters run smaller diameter tubing then the spray bars I alrdy drilled. id hate to swedge the flow but looks as tho its a must.

Are you going with acrylic or glass?

If yuo go with a sump you can also have critters and feeders

been awake since thursday, finished putting tank together 5 am today, hour ago I look at it an crack across bottom,
would appear 1/2" glass not good enough for that many holes.
now hunting for 5/8... /shoots self.
got pics will show you my misery later. goodnight for now puffer world.

Oh DarkStorm, I'm so sorry to hear that, after all that work. I know you will get it sorted, and it will all turn out alright, I have faith in you.

1" particle boad base, styrofoam insulation then the tank on top. You can silicone the crack. It will be covered by substraight anyway right?

On mine I have vapor barrier between the tank and the foam just incase of a small leak that may rot the foam.

got a new piece of glass for it this time it went perfect will be bringing home monday , still cant find a 72x 30 undergravel filter /gravel guard tho, and looks like alot of work to make my own, although I do enjoy a challenge,

I was thinking of that to for my set up ... even tried to fit 2 under gravel filters side x side then decided against going undergravel.

with the intakes being 1/4 inch above base gravel guard 1 inch above it should make for sick filtration and very easy maintenance, ebays got a few so gonna see if i can piece em together when they arrives.
not going to use sump anymore since I cant figure out the flow /shrug.
but on bright side jabbas old tank. is going to be home to a porcupine so sump wasnt a wasted purchase . yay

really wanted to bring home today but theres a blizzard so not gonna happen, but thats ok I need to find some 2-3/8 bulkheads yet

and yes my truck needs washing lol. never buy black car if you live in a province that uses sand and salt instead of road plows.
