New Baby Blip!

We wandered out today, got stuck in a real snowstorm (nowhere near as bad as what I hear the northeast US is getting, but still bad for here!) .... and ended up finally getting to the LFS that usually has many different puffers. We literally got there 1/2 hour before they were due to close, but there wasn't any one in the entire store, so I had a leisurely walk around to see what they had in.

When I was there before to buy my Congo (Orangey), I had noticed that they had these really adorable little Ceylon puffers. Something about little puffers that I find irresistable, so it didn't take me long to decide that I wanted to get one of those little guys. They had two different sizes of Ceylons -- either the really small ones, maybe a bit bigger than 1" long, and then the other ones that are about twice the size of the little guys. I've already got two fairly good size Ceylons (Pudgie and Yorkie) .... but as I said, those little ones were so hard to resist.

So now I've got BLIP! Blip is the newest member of my Ceylon tank. I was going to put Blip in with the fat GSP's I have ... but then I remembered that when Yorkie and Pudgie were sharing a tank with the other GSP's, they didn't hurt the smaller puffers, so I decided that Blip would go in the 65-gallon tank with Pudge and Yorkie. As soon as I put Blip into the tank Yorkie shot over to have a good look. He looked it up and down and then he just swam off as if it didn't matter to him. Pudgie wasn't very interested either really. The only time they did seem to pay attention is when it came to feeding time, and when I put a piece of raw shrimp (with the shell on) in the tank, Blip swam over to it eagerly and started eating it. That's when Yorkie grabbed the piece of shrimp and took off with it. Poor Blip was like, "where'd the food go?", and I think he must have been thrilled to have such good food available, as I'm sure those LFS's don't feed these poor puffers very well. I also put some earthworms in the tank and although Blip wasn't able to get to the worm itself, he did get some pieces that were torn off in the frenzy that Yorkie and Pudgie caused from eating the worms.

So here's some photos of my newest, and cutest, little puffer -- Blip. :D

You can see his very fat belly here after he had stuffed himself

And here's Pudgie and Yorkie, who seem to have accepted little Blip with no problems whatsoever

And here's Pudgie looking so cute (trying to remind me that she was my first love) :)

Thank you, I like pudgy tummies too. :D

And yes, I know you all got hit badly with snow, my friend in Maryland has sent me photos of it. I wanted to take some pictures today when we were out in it, but I didn't have my phone or camera with me (typical). I hope you don't get too much more snow. :)

Thanks Andrew
I think baby Blip may have IP's, but not sure, just his belly looks a bit lumpy when it's full. Of course he did pig out last night because I don't think he had access to the good food at the LFS like I feed my puffers.
He is a real cutie though, almost made me want to get more of them!! :D

Heh, heh! I wanted all five of the celons in the shop - what a tankful that would have made :)

There's also dwarfs, hairy and red eye's in the shop. I know I could find space for the dwarfs and red-eyes but one thing at a time 8)

Poor little puff, the one of mine I suspect of having IP's has a lumpy tum too. I bet being cared for was a shock for him :)

"There's also dwarfs, hairy and red eye's in the shop. I know I could find space for the dwarfs and red-eyes but one thing at a time 8) " - Mr Soggy

Hey Mr Soggy -- can you find out how much they are asking for the Hairy? I might like to have another of those? Maybe I could get you to get him/her for me and then we could meet to exchange. I know you are a bit far from me, but for a Baileyi, I'd go the distance!!
And I do think that Blip has internal parasites .... his little belly is just too lumpy to be normal, but at least it will be easier to treat him as he eats with gusto!

Thanks Lisa, I think Blip is a cutie too. They had ones his size and then other ones just a little bigger and I was so tempted to get one of each. Surprisingly, my bigger Ceylons are doing really well with Blip, they don't bother him at all, and just act as if he belongs there. Poor Blip is only as big as their tail fins! :D

Blip is indeed a cutie. I haven't seen a Ceylon so little. Then again there aren't many puffers in this area.

I've never seen one so small either, and that's why I had to have him! Baby puffers are adorable!! :)

Now if only they would stay little.

Goodness if puffers would stay so little my house would be over run with the little guys
