Figure 8 + Ich

Uh oh...

As I was watching my fig8s today.. I noticed the smaller fig 8 developed what seems to be like ich, according to some articles I've read, and library/hospital/swich/

The larger puffer seems to have no signs of the infections, no white spots, or erratic behavior or scratching up against objects in the tank.

As I understood the article in the library for the best method of curing.. I basically have to remove both puffers, put them each in a separate tank with a bare bottom, and stay like that for 4 weeks..

However, I dont have any other tanks, nor do I have another filter or heater for a hospital tank...

What can I do?

I am working on getting a larger tank as fast as I can, but that'll take a little bit of time to become cycled..

Are the spots on it's fins or just the body? What's the SG of their tank?

Spots are only on the smaller puffer.

And the spots are on the fins, and body. And seems to be quite a good amount of dots.

The SG of the tank is 1.008.

This is the best possible pic I could get right now..

Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it..

Oh wow, poor fella looks really bad. I'm very surprised it would have that at the SG they are in. Are you sure you're measuring it right?

See: library/hospital/fwich/
Since you already have plenty of salt, you'll be using the heat/WC method.

Looks just like how both my fig-8s were when I first brought them home. With care, his tail will grow back.

What are you using to measure the SG? A refractometer or hydrometer?

WOW my F8's had ich but not as bad as this. That link that PP provided for you works very good. I've used it and worked great. Good Luck, let us know how it turns out.
