This is the tank that will be used.. (Ignore the setup in the tank).. I'll be setting it all up and sorting out all the cycling and such ready to get myself a little dwarf puffer in mid/late janurary..
Its a 5g tank, i plan to add some shrimp (a gamble i know) and possibly some oto's? (not sure on the space factor, if not oto's anything else?)
The planned design for the tank is illustrated in this crappy paint drawing i threw together quickly
sand and black gravel

Looks pretty neat so far, as far as I know Oto's go great with DP's.
As far as space goes for having 1 DP and maybe 1 Oto, I think you should be fine considering the Oto cat mostly hides a lot. I have read though that they should have 20gallons or more, and that also goes for if you're planning on having more than one DP!
You would need lots of plants and hiding spaces, which will benefit both the Oto and the DP!
The shrimp, if the DP finds it, probably will eat it if it is small enough.
If not an Oto cat then maybe a Clown Pleco, they stay relatively small, and would suit the purpose of cleaning up the tank.

I dont have the option to use one of my bigger tanks unfortunately so i'll be sticking to this 5g, only have the one little DP and like i say, i'll be looking for something like oto's as tankmate options, i know i'm very limited at 5g, but im just considering options

Clown plecos still grow to a minimum of 3" & poop a lot.

Ottos are schooling (or social) fish too though, I wouldn't just get one...
Do many people keep them singly? How do they do?
