Just wondering if anyone has any tips for keeping the inside of a bow fronted tank clean.? I have an algae scraper (the sort with a blade) that does the back & sides just fine, but obviously I can't go up & down on the bow front in case I scratch it. I tried to go sideways yesterday & ended up slicing into my thumb. Are there any special products made specially for them? Also useful would be something fairly long, as to reach the bottom I have to get wet upto my armpit! I can wipe off the softer algae, but really need something to scrape off those little green hard specks.

I wonder if Mag-floats make a slightly rounded one?

They do, but it's small, made for bowls. But wouldn't a regular Mag-Float turned on its side work, provided that it was narrow enough?

But are they tough enough to get even those little hard deposits off?

Hard deposits? I don't know... What kind of deposits are we talking about?

If they're that hard, then what about algae-scrapers on sticks? DFS sells them.

As well as normal "soft" algae growth, I have tiny, hard circular dots of green deposit. Can only see it in certain lights, but if you run your hand over the glass you can feel them. As I said, I use a blade scraper on the back, but have to use it sideways on the front & its not very easy. Just thought someone with a bowfront might have some cleaning suggestions.

I always used a Mag-Float on mine... Worked okay... The biggest problem for me was that it was acrylic and scratched easily.

they have special ones for acrylic. they are usually blue. insted of white

I had one of those algae scrapers with the blade, then I noticed it scratched my 90 and that was it snapped in 2 and thrown in the bin. I bought one with an abrasive pad. Ill get you a pic of it. I reckon you could probably make one DIY style if you couldnt find one.

This is what im now using for those tough bits of algae, seems a little overkill after the nimble nano.

Im just imagining you walking out of your tank room in slow mo with this over your shoulder. that thing is a beast.

After the experience I had this evening with the fahaka I need a bigger handle on this and a longer python chamber. It is a bit of a beast but I get this horrible algae that almost turns the glass opaque and a mag float type has no affect. This wins over it though.

I use an old plastic card (like paycard) from hubby's work. as long as the prints arent hard (old medical cards) its usable and very bendable. I even get the tiny green spots easily away.

+1 they have a certain type for glass & acrylic
