Chubby is a T. Occellatus. He is in a 40g tank.
His filtration consists of two internal filters, two sponge filters and a low powered skimmer and gets a 35% water change every week.
He only picks at any fresh seafood offered so far, but relishes live ghost shrimp and goes nuts for Omega One brand algae wafers.
He's fat, healthy and is doing much better, but i feel like a horrible puffer owner for feeding him algae wafers....

Hahaha. My betta Lola eats the pellets I give to the shrimp who lives with him. It's not a big deal. It's what you should gut-load shrimp with anyway.

Ummm...if they are safe and he likes them I don't see a problem letting him have some veggies! I'd just try to give him as much of a variety as possible. I've never tried giving any to mine.....they'd eat it they'll eat anything!

Veggies are part of their natural diet. If he gets them through algae wafers so be it!

Dad said it!
I try to make sure my cherry shrimp have a good meal of veggies (whether through wafers or the real thing) before I snatch them out to feed my puffers. Granted, the puffers sometimes leave them for days to weeks before eating them, but at least I tried. Another good way to get veggies in them is using spirulina (I get frozen brine with spirulina) and things like Emerald Entree and Freshwater Frenzy frozen foods which have spinach, watercress, etc., mixed in with foods like brine shrimp, bloodworms, etc.
Oh, and peas are great too, but my puffers are kinda picky. They won't take 'em. Many will, but mine are like 2-year-old kids, lol.
