Looking for advice on what looks like ich on Colomesus Asellus, I have two in a 20 gallon tank with a few guppy's, and lots of Anubis and micro sword, I add a few snails every other day for them to eat along with tubeflex worms or shrimp to very diet, eating fine, no loose of appetite. Tank has been set up for 11 months and do a 15-20 percent water change every week. Looking for what I can use to treat them with, I have never had ich on Puffers.

There's a nice article in the Library: library/hospital/fwich/ Don't use medications! They're unsafe for puffers.

I would do bigger water changes on that tank... In a fully-stocked puffer tank, which yours is (and maybe a tad overstocked), you should be doing at least 50% water changes. What are your nitrate levels?

Do the salt and heat treatment in the article mentioned above. Worked for my SAP with ich.

I respect others comment about using salt. But I also found eSHa EXIT to be safe for colomesus asellus. Worked very well when i've used it on my own 4 SAPS with ich.
I tried the salt and heat treatment for about a week, but, didn't seem to be having much of an effect. I fact what stated as mild case on one puffer changed to two then three and then i reached for meds.

As an aside, Esha exit is almost certainly malachite green a very broadly used medication,in days gone by it was used on fish farm but discovered to be very bad for humans to ingest.

Thank you to all that sent suggestions and help with my ich issue, after trying heat, salt and all the other ideas I found a product that worked from Kordon there line of AquaHerbals has a product called Ich- Attack it worked great in three days it was all gone. Never a loss of appetite, color or behavior issues, it didn't bother the snails in the tank either.
