porcupine with lump

my porcupine puffer i've just noticed has developed a small lump on his face it looks like the same size os one of his nostrils and has a tiny red scratch running down a few millimeters from it i am not sure if he has banged himself on the rocks off has been rubbing himself on the rocks to maybe ease the spot any advice would be welcome i have attached a not very good picture (about try number 30. lol)

I would just wait and see...
My Tire Track Eel has a lump underneath his mouth. I was worried it was something bad but it's been about a month and nothing has happened. It doesn't even affect him.

Awwww, I hope your little Porc isn't unwell, he's so cute! They always look happy and I can't look at one without smiling.

Since there's a scratch on the lump, I'm inclined to think it's just a slight injury... Keep an eye on it. If it doesn't heal, then just watch for other changes in the lump.

thanks for the replys and advice do i have to put any meds in the tank to help it heal or will it cure itself.

It will heal on its own. Just keep the water extra-clean. If you want, you can add Melafix, but it's not really necessary.

Be sure it's Marine Melafix. Do you have a skimmer on there?

yes i've got a skimmer i will see if i can get better pictures today and i will pop into my lfs today

If you use regular Melafix with a skimmer, it'll bubble over. So either get Melafix Marine or turn the skimmer off.
