Leaky Hang-On Filter

I woke up this morning to find my carpet soaking wet under the suvattii/Palembang tank -- and first thing I thought was" where in the world would I put my suvattii and Palembang puffers?" But then I looked to see the source of the leak, it wasn't the tank itself, but rather the hang-on filter that's on that tank! I don't know why, but it was leaking from where the little motor joins the actual filter.
Thankfully I caught it before too much had drained out, but it was still enough to soak the carpet in a 2-foot circumference, enough to make the house have that wonderful "wet carpet" smell. So now I'm wondering if I have to worry about the other 2 hang-on filters that are on 2 of my other tanks. I always try to keep more than one filter going on some of my tanks, so I always have back-ups, but that still means I'm one filter down, and will have to replace that.
I was so bummed out about the leak and the wet carpet that we went out and I bought myself a couple of new dwarf puffers to make myself feel better. One of the dwarfs is the smallest I've ever seen, I mean this little guy is like a speck! But I like getting the tiny ones because you get to see them grow. I had wanted to get a bunch of them, because most of them were tiny, but the husband wouldn't let me
-- however I did get to add another crab to my collection. It looks very much like a red-claw crab but it was called a "Boxer" crab. I didn't take note of the latin name though unfortunately. I'm up to 8 crabs now, they're just too hard for me to resist!!
