Star Puffer Question

Arothron stellatus

I have the change to get this guy at my lfs. When I checked PufferPedia is states that he should not by keep by hobbyist. I was wonder if anyone has owned a star puffer?
right now his is a little guy about 2 inch of less

Maybe send a PM to Sandee. She has one.

You will require a very large tank to accomodate for this puffer, so add that to your overall price. You'll also be needing a sump, protein skimmer etc., and then there's the cost of salt.

so be forewarned that the cost will go far beyond what the price of the puffer is.

Yeah, these guys get up to 40+ inches in the wild and need a massive tank if you are going to attempt to keep them. Because of their size and messy eating habits they need big, very frequent water changes when kept in captivity to keep their water parameters stable. Even though he is currently only 2-3 inches long, he will become a monster in a few years and the tank upgrades alone will be expensive.
