This is going to cause a lot of detriment to all of those puffers that reside there...

People just can't leave things alone, have to always mess with things and screw them up!

I dunno why. It's been an ongoing battle between naturalists and the hydro business.
Yeah, always breaking the natural world!

I often think that homo sapiens is the worst thing ever to have happened to the planet.

Dams are detrimental to ecosystems. When you look at a river it has constant movement, not just of water but of fish and food source too. Put up a dam and you impede the natural flow. You also create a reservoir behind the dam with a lot of water moving at a slower rate. If you really want to see the impact of dams on rivers ecosystems look at the Snake River Dams. It's a shining example of what happens and what can be done.

i hate how most humans only think of how their actions will effect themselves and how they think they are the supreme being. we are no better than any other on this plant, and everyone needs to remember just that, that we are animals too, just like every other "lesser" being on this planet. so we are no better than them.

That's kind of what I think, too. Who's to say I have a greater right to live than some other creature?
But then, I evidently feel that I have a right to deprive some other animal of its liberty in my attempts to indulge myself, otherwise I wouldn't have any of my puffers, or all the rest of my pets except for our two Persians. I guess it's a conflict we pet owners have to deal with.

However....im some places (western U.S.) dams are essential to the survival and continuation of booming beach metropolises: Los Angeles, San Diego and other major cities such as Phoenix and Las Vegas. While i think it is detrimental to the environment people as need sources of water however i feel the dams should be located towards the end of river systems leaving less of an impact on the river basin as a whole. I mean the poor Colorado River doesn't even reach the Gulf of California anymore.

It doesn't! Grrr, that's the last straw. Taming the digger of the Grand Canyon is not good.
