My first puffer I've owned was a fang's puffer. It's my greatest dream to have a fang again.

I found this guy, who looks quite a bit like a fang. A little bit stressy so dark on the picture but what do you guys think?

I think you have a Turgdis due to the nice green color. The thing with the target group is some are near impossible to identify or even tell apart.

Your puffer does look alot like my turgidus, and the size would be right too, as a Fang's would not get as big as the turgidus. They are nice puffers, mine loves to hang out of his coconut shell.

I love mine, he sits under a stump that has 3 openings just waiting for some unsuspecting meal, oops I mean shrimp, to walk by.....then he gets this evil little smile.....

Agreed, turdigus. Generally not as active as a fangs, more tends to hide all the time and come out to attack food. But dang are they cute little things, they like to wave hi to you, and get all excited when they are hungry.

Not a great choice if you want an active puffer though, definately a lurker in the true meaning of the word.

I quite like them. Have a miurus, baileyi and cutcutia all not the most active puffers you can get.

But I really like this little guy, so don't mind what species it is. The only thing is that I found his target spot different then turgidus pictures.

I couldn't help noticing that, with the exception of your Valentini, we've got the same puffers! Actually my turgidus looks alot like the photos you've posted .... but I'm just not sure about the 'target' spot because my guy usually hangs just his head out of the coconut shell he likes to hide in. I will see if I can lure him out and have a look --otherwise I'd say that's what you've got. I like my turgidus and wouldn't want to give him up (of course I am attached to all my puffers and wouldn't want to give ANY of them up!).

So far I've kept 13 species of puffers. And the lurkers are my favourite.

I'm really curious if you could get a closer look on the targetspot of your turgidus.

Yes, I literally DO have tanks all over the house! And our electric bill keeps climbing higher.

I'm going to make it my mission to try and lure my turgidus out of his shell to get a look at his target spot. I was in there a little while ago and he had his head stuck out and he just flicked his eyes back and forth as if to say, "Okay, what you got up your sleeve this time?"

My guy is a fat little guy (all my puffers are fat), but it's odd because I rarely see him eat.

That spot matches the target spot my Turgdis has. Mine has a stump he hides under and he thinks he's invisible, but I can see him readily. That spot changes from a dark spot to a lighter color spot depending on his mood and what he doing. If he sees a something edible coming in to striking distance and is excited, the spot get a light color, and then he is resting or I've disturbed him it gets dark. His body color also changes more readily than any of my other puffers, excitement he gets a striking green color, seeing prey he get a light/pale green, and upset or disturbed he get a dark green color. I can sit and watch him change when ever he's fed. I'll see if I can get some pics in different color modes.

As far as the "target spot" it can fade in or out, blend in, stick out.. it varies with mood and age and fatness LOL. They don't have a very distinct "target" usually, like many of the other "target puffers", its more of a spot that just sort of stands out from all the other spots.

That last picture it really does stand out.. but I'm wondering, were you using flash? That makes things show up that wouldn't show up otherwise.
