You still should make a fuss over it and get you money back if its the wrong one and/or at least get the difference of money back. And to make it clear to the ppl who sold it to you. Maybe they'll feel bad and give you some in-store credit! cha-ching $$$

Yes it is a Stars and Stripes or maybe even a Reticulated Puffer ( hard to tell from the picture). Both great fishs they are, only problem is the difference between tank size for the Dog Face and Stars & Stripes. You are looking at 160 gl /606 liters minimum (they grow quick ) for the Stars and Stripes compared with a 90 gl./ 341 litres for the dog face. What size tank do you have now. Good luck with him/her.

P.S. You don't have him in the 50 gl with the sick porc and clown fish do you?

170 litres which is 45 gallon, yes I would say you are going to have to get him out of there soon then later. Great puffers to have if you have the space and can afford the size of tank they do need. Hope all works out for you and the puffer.

Oh! He's a pretty S&S! They are my second favorite SW puffer (porc being #1) and they grow relatively fast so you will have to get him in a new tank pretty soon. I think someone on here had one get to near adult size in the first year of life. Getting him out of the smaller tank real soon will help keep him from becoming stunted. Used tanks are going pretty cheap these days. Good luck with that beauty!

Actually the S&S puffer (which is what you have) is in the dogface family of Arothron: ug.php/v/PufferPedia/Marine/A_Hispidus/

I guess that's why they're mixed up sometimes. Didn't Elvis get bought the same way - the owner (gosh darn it, I can't spell that username!!!) wanted a regular dogface, but she wound up with a S&S instead?
