New Guy!

I posted another thread about getting another F8 earlier, but I was too lazy to go find it again. Anyways, I said that I found a good one earlier in September, and now I put him into the main tank a couple days ago. I swear I have pics, but I can't find the little adapter thingy that plugs into the USB port (aren't I technologically literate, lol). I'll try to find it and post tomorrow.

He's a feisty little guy! I've already seen chunks missing from the mollies' fins, but the bbgs seem fine. Not sure if they are just not in his way or better at hiding or what. I'm thinking about moving to mollies to my freshwater 75g, but they never seem to do that well after acclimating to freshwater. Then again, the other option is to rehome them, and I don't know anybody who knows what they are doing. Maybe it would be best to put them in the 75g. I'm not sure. It seems like any option I choose ends up not being so great for the mollies (LFSs keep them in freshwater).

I have no idea what to call him though. I just keep calling him the new guy. My other F8, Grun, is one of the original 2 that I got, and I named him Grun (supposed to be 2 dots over the u) because it's German for green. The other original was Zitrone (means lemon), but this one doesn't seem like a Zitrone. Ideas?

Talk about weird .... I read this thread and did not scroll down and when bazil323 asked for a name, I said out loud "schnitzel" .... so when I scrolled down to type it in, you had already posted it!! That was indeed strange, but you know what they say, intelligent minds think alike!

how about kampf if you're going for the german approach. i'm pretty sure it means fight. and seeing how the new one seems a little on the belligerent side i could fit. you could also go with krieg, that means war, sort of along the same line of thought.

Oh, good ones!

Pics, I know, I know. Sorry! I promise to post pics this week, one way or another. I still can't find that stupid adapter thing. I know I had it to work to change my desktop pic, but then I can't remember what I did with it. Will have to check my laptop case tonight.

Oddly enough, I read that having only 1 puffer will help make them more interactive, which is partly why I was reluctant to get another one (plus the troubles with IPs with the 2 that died early on), and Grun was so skittish. I didn't want to make him more so, but since I've added the new guy, Grun has been coming up to the glass to greet me (okay the food, but who cares?) and has even taken food from the tweezers, which he never used to do. Last night, the 2 of them were even staring at me when I was sitting on the couch next to the tank. Yay!

As promised, pics of the new guy (no, still haven't picked a name). In the first 2, the new guy is the smaller one on the right. The third pic is of just the new guy, and the fourth is just Grun. I think th first 2 are funny because they look kinda flat because of the angle that I took the pics, and it also looks like they are both trying to figure out what the rock is.

Nice photos! I like the 2nd one because it looks as if Grun has his chin resting on the rock. :D

Thanks! Yeah, I'm kinda thinking that he was just establishing his place in the tank because the mollies seem to be doing okay and no more fin damage has been noticed. Granted, I haven't logged each fin tear and manually examined each molly for new tears, but generally, they seem to be about the same. So, hopefully, he's found his place and is going to leave them alone. I really don't want to move them out of the brackish tank as they seem to struggle when I've put the babies (and one adult male to prevent further babies) into freshwater.

So anyway, I also got a new castle. It was out 3rd anniversary on Tuesday, so hubby got a castle and a ship for me (didn't have the heart to tell him I've moved on to more natural decor as much as possible). The castle went into the brackish tank and the ship goes into the 75g freshwater community tonight. I'm planning on running some airline up the castle so that bubbles come out the spires (hubby's idea, sounds kinda neat), but I've got to either fix my air pump or get a new one. I broke the stem that the airline plugs into, and I'm not sure if I can get replacements.

Awww. He's so cute! I love all the pics, well done! I especially like the last one, what a nice, chubby belly! Which reminds me, everytime I show a pic of a puffer like that 4th one, they always think its a weird tadpole!

It's so true! Sometimes I'm staggered by my own genius.

I think naming a puffer after after any type of food is just soooo right. Now I want two more puffers so I can call one "Cup Cake" and the other "Short Bread"..... I like desserts.

Or you could do "Blitz", it means lightning. They do move fast when they know food is coming.

Hehe, I'm loving the names! I've gotta say that Schnitzel is my fav so far. Btw, here's some more piccies. The first is Grun (yeah, gotta trim his teeth again, snail colony got wiped out for some reason), them mollies, then a bbg, then the traffic jam!
