Has anyone heard anything about the new Fluval G series filters? They supposedly are supposed to replace the current 05 series and the release date is sometime in October 09. The only info I can find is their blog and that doesn't give much. From what I can gather though, they are manufacturer/end user design. When medical design companies do this they send out a questionnaire with the basic design and then say, "what would you like to see it do better/less of/more of/easier, etc. than the last one" and then evaluate and implement the most valid data.

I'm real curious about this because there was a lot I kind of liked in the 05 series and a lot that I hated (that and I think my 505 is dying)

im in uk and ive heard about them but like urself just the website pfk has some ppl talking about it...one thing i know for sure is the 05 range will come down in price by alot!

Well, that's good to know.. I hated my Fluval.. priming it was impossible. I hate it so much its sitting in a friend's basement and I have no urge to go get it. Filstars all the way for me from now on.

Always liked my Eheims.

All I know is that Fluval usually is good quality, all through! Their internal filters are my favorites, and that's the only brand I would buy. Their external filters are hard working, long lasting. I've got only two Fluval external filters, but that's because I find Eheim a little knot better. I love my two external Fluval-filters though. They seem to work forever (I bought them both second hand), and I only need to rinse them once a year. I have to rinse my Eheim filters more often.

I cannot comprehend spending £400 on a filter that has no built in heater :S it looks great and probably will work well to but in comparison to Ehiems that will quite probably work just as well are a lot cheaper and in some instances have more features

Yeah, now that I'm reading more about it I agree, I wouldn't spend that much money on one....I can't wait to see the user reviews.

That's why I like the FIlstars.. Eheim like quality (parts are solid and not easily broken), the media has a good layout and is easy to change/clean and they work great.. but at a much lower price tag than the Eheims. The price has gone up a bit though, due to their popularity, but its still way lower than a Pro series. IMO, the quality is very dang close though.

Either way though, never EVERY get one of those eBay cheapy "like Eheim" cannisters! I got one once second hand from a friend, it was so cheaply made it wasn't funny. The casing cracked and no matter how you patched it, would still leak.
