Hey what it is i am going to get a F-8 puffer . i done all my research and i want to start buy breeding the snails, i was told to breed pond snails

What other types of snails do you lot recommend?

pond snails are the best for fig 8's IMHO and quite easy to breed. Make sure you take good care of them and feed them well so they're more nutritios for your puffers. Many also breed ramshorns, although i have limited experience with them.

I'm currently breeding pond snails, well attempting to. They're just not multiplying much. I'm wondering if the trumpet snails have out competed them... I'm considering removing a sizable chunck of the trumpet community from the breeding tanks (which are our fresh water fish tanks)

trumpets will do that..i'd get as many out as you can.

As in trumpets you mean Malaysian Trumpet Snail right? And if so would i need a heater has i have a spare snail tank 5 gals, or no heat is needed

Yes, Malaysian trumpets are not good for puffers, they cause chipped teeth, and will out compete pond snails. You don't NEED a heater to breed pond snails, it just slows the process down.

I mean, not having a heater slows things down...having a heater speeds breeding up.

Well if it slows things down i better start with the pond snails ASAP .
So are those the only snails you Can really give to a F 8 puffer.

Well like you said that trumpet snails are not good so really that makes, pond snails the only good ones right

Nix on the MTS (Malaysian trumpet snails). $)nono Their shells are too hard & they have been known to chip puffer's teeth.

Common pond snails are best for quick reproduction & ease of crunching.

I said trumpets are NOT good. Too hard. Pond snails are good, and like I said before, ramshorns are good too, I just have limited experience with them.
