Is this normal? My new/first marine puffer....

Hello,
I was just wondering if this was normal for a Spotted Puffer. Also, I'm not exactly sure what kind of puffer this is. It looks almost like a Spotted Sharpnose, but the colorings and markings are different. Any ideas on what it is?

Yes, it's normal. My valentini sticks to rocks, decorations, and powerheads when resting. :D

It's a Congo puffer. Definitely one of the coolest fw puffers ever. Lol.

Sadly, I no longer have him. I took the tank apart and converted it to sw. I gave him to a buddy of mine who has a bigger tank for him to live in.

My beautiful valentini does exactly what yours is doing once the lights go out: she snuggles up against a rock every night at exactly the same spot and positions herself vertically. I can't tell how it is that she's holding herself against the rock, but she somehow manages to stay there.

My old valentini did the same when he slept. Nice spotted. There the nastiest of the tobies i think though.

Thanks. I went to 4 LFS looking for some sharpnose puffers. They had a couple Valentini's, but she was the only spotted one there. At $25, I couldn't pass. Definitely, an interesting puffer.

He's in a 30 gall. with a blue Damsel and about 40 lbs of live rock.

I hope you have done some research on your jactator's diet. :) Evidently they prefer red and green algae, sponges and other tunicates, and many other sorts of crustacean and invertebrates.

We have one now at work; if I had a spare tank, I'd get it, or if it would live with a GSP or a Ceylon, I'd get it.
