Change in behavior

Perhaps one or more of you can give me some insight on this.
I housed my GSPs with figure eights since I have had them, about a year maybe a little less. I recently split them up so I could raise the salinity for my spotted friends. They always played together and swam circles around eachother up and down the glass. Since I have separated the two GSPs from their figure eight friends, (two weeks?) they do not hardly ever play, I have only seen them come out of hiding once or twice, and that is after I turn out the light. Their only other tankmate is a green scat. Any ideas as to their change in behavior and habits? The scat does not seem to be showing any aggression towards either of them so I do not think that is the problem. Their color is fine and all params are better than ever since the 8s moved out. am-0 ni-trace na-trace PH 7.8 SG 1.007 and rising. The only thing I have changed is the SG, which I have been doing very slowly so as not to shock my fishies. Their color is fine usually, sometimes I will catch them with a little gray around their lower jaw, but other than that, no signs of problems. I just did a water change and there was no change in their behavior. Any ideas?
