Well personally, for a "basic" puffer, I like the Green Spotted puffer. Not hard to take care of, very entertaining and always makes me smile.
My redeyes I think are pretty, especially my male species. I now have irrubesco, lorteti, salivator, and borneensis -- and they are all beautiful (the females are a bit bland in my opinion). They are also very attentive. When they are hungry, all of them come to the front glass and it's so funny to see all those faces bobbing up and down.
My lurkers, even though they don't move much, and really don't "do" anything, they still have alot of character. My Baileyi is so particular, if I don't put his food in just so, he won't eat it. I've had to try like 3 and 4 times with the same pieces of mussel that he's refused, and then all the sudden he will eat it!
I don't think I actually have a "favourite" puffer now that I'm thinking about it. It would be hard if I had to pick just a few and get rid of the rest, it would be hard for me to decide who to keep and whom to get rid of. They are all special in their own right, and they all have something to offer -- hence the reason why I have so many puffers in the first place!! Puffers are so special and unique, the only other fish that can possibly compete with my puffers are my mudskippers -- they are very cool too and I am just as amazed with them as I am with the puffers!
