yesterday i went to a marine fish shop around the corner from my house,
and i found a small tank with 10+ puffers in there plus 2 box fish and a few triggers.
there was some canthigaster solandri, and valentini, one labeled as a deep
sea canthigaster, and maybe 2-3 other species of canthigaster that i couldnt
as easilly identify, and one what i think was a stars and stripes puffer

he looked like this one but dark brown with almost identical patterns and
not so yellow fins and about 15cm long

anyway i was wondering how much are these guys worth? hes $60 australian
he wasnt very happy, curled up in a c shape but looked pretty healthy he was quite fat
apparently he had been kept in a tank for 3 days since being caught from the wild

next time im in ill try and get a pic of this tank
looks crazy all the colours!

is that definatly a stars and stripes hiding under the rock?

i couldnt get all of the puffers in i tried to count them today and theres 15 or 16 canthigasters and the 1 stars and stripes

oh and also does anybody know the reason why some aquariums keep nets in theyre tanks?

So let me think .. 60 aus dollars would be about £30 pounds and about
48 Us dollars ...

I seen a few online places over here charge for £30-£40 for a 3-4" stars n stripes puffer
so 60AUS$ is a steal for 6" and i would definetly buy1, if had more room for another 150g heh heh

Yeah it definetly looks like a SnS puff and it looks really colourful and fat and
only 3 days since being caught would be so perfect to buy but up to you my friend .. if you
do get it i think they get 17-18" long so maybe 150g minimum tank would be needed ...oh and
pics if you decide to buy would be great

Ive seen Dog Face Puffers from 40-90 bucks.

I also read somewhere that they can get acclimated into high brackish? You could mix him with your Milk Spot?

Stars and Stripes are full marine and 180 gl tank min.

A Marine setup will probably be the best option anyways to take advantage of the filtration advantages of the live rock...

BUt the Milk Spotted might be a bit aggressive for the Star Stripe?

i did put some thought towards housing him with my milk-spot
ive read that they can be kept in high brackish aswell wishbone
tho i did decide i cant house another puffer at the moment
i cant think about getting another, when i still need permanent housing for ziggy

oh yeah
when i first got my milk-spot he killed a few bbgs
but didnt eat them
so i thought he was agro but for the past month
i had him with 2 mollies which turned into more mollies
then they ate theyre own fry, i now have 5 swimming
around with him and from what i could tell the mollies
cut down theyre own numbers by eating theyre fry
so im not too sure how agro ziggy really is
he kinda tries to avoid the mollies like he's scared of them
and even puffed up for the first time when i put them in
