Hey guy i was wondering if anyone knew of lighting that was relitivly cheap, ment for salt water and fit my tank

heres some picture of my old light, i would like the same style as this mount.

i just really hate the "orange" look to the tank because of the lighting i would really rather buy a florecent light and have more of a "white" look but i dont want to spend more the $100

again is there lights that are specificly ment for salt water/brackish water? i really confused on what im looking for

You're going to need to get an flourescent fixture. Look on Craigslist for a good deal on a used one.

ive seen some lights for 400$ and i really dont have the money to spend on lights

Only if you're keeping it fish only--not good enough for corals. You do realize your GSP will need a miminum of 30g? Larger is better.

i just asked my friend who i got the tank from he says its a 29 gal tank

its late and i came up with the idea that i dont need to buy a new light

its 100time brighter then my old bulbs im gonna check tommorow if it gets 2 hot if it does then ill scrap my idea

hopefully it doesnt burn down my house!

im sad to say that my GSP passed away this morning, not 100% sure why

Please be careful with that hood! We have a fellow in my local reef club whose entire home just burned down from his tank. I would be very careful overloading an incandescent fixture. I believe they can only take 15wt bulbs. It should say somewhere on the fixture.

Please post about your GSP in the Hospital forum so we can figure out what went wrong, so this won't happen to the next one.

im going to take your advice and not do it to my lights ill just spend the money and buy a proper one.

i figured out what went wrong

apparently i put to much salt in at one time and killed the good bactiria and my ammonia spiked to 4ppm

:S i emptied out all the water in my tank and going to start it all over again properly

Yes, you should only raise it by .002/week. Do you have a hydrometer or refractometer? If no, you really need to get one before you get your next GSP.

yeah i did, im just stupid ugh it was my fault i thing there was salt crystals that haddent disovled when i mixed the water
