PVC with veggie growth

I saw pics on here where someone had pvc in the tank, but it looked like there was algae on the pvc. I need to give my GSP more to explore and the potential with PVC is good. How do I keep/get it natural looking?

i covered some tube in aquarium safe silicon and rolled it in some dry substrate of the same color already in the tank. it looks kind of like a rock tunnel. after it sat in my tank a few weeks algae did start to grow. its easy to clean just don't scrub to hard or you'll knock some rocks off.

That is a good idea! I appreciate the feedback. I am still interested in the pics I mentioned and how it was done. I saw them in a new post about 3 or so days ago. I am wondering if paint was used or if it was growth.
Anyone remember?
