does it need to be done, theres a mangroves near my house i was wondering if i had to quarantine them first and how would i got about that?

I've heard everything from "Don't let them touch your fish or equipment for a month" to "don't bother, give them a rinse and stick them in there," but since this is from the wet 'n' wil outdoors, I'd give them a lengthy QT. However, I've heard very bad things about live mangroves - even when they're only little stumps, they don't die, and they keep on growing... right through the tank... and the results wouldn't be pretty. You can get really realistic fake mangroves, though; I've seen nice ones online.

Personally, yes I would qt them. That's just me. I'm not sure if it's really necessary. And LilGreenPuffer is right. Keep an eye on the roots and make sure they don't get so big that it will crack your tank. It may take years for this to happen but better safe than sorry.

To qt, just get a tupperware bucket, vase or a plain bucket put some water and stick the plants in. Change the water every day or every other day. I would leave them in qt for at least 2 weeks. That's it!

i also have seeds that were collected from the bay would it be safer to just try and grow them?
