I need help with my Little GSP Hooty

I have a Little GSP which I moved to a 10 g about 2 weeks ago. Lately I noticed his belly has been light gray. His appetite is great and buzzes around his tank normally.
My Specs are
SG 1.008
pH 8.4
Nitrates 0
Nitrites 0
Amon 25... this is after a 40% water change
and temp 78
Do you have any ideas on what I should do? Should I do another change again tonight? should I add Prime?
PLease help...... I really love this lil guy and dont want anything to happen to him.....

Just did another 50% change .... going to wait about 30 min to check my Amon Level....

Water changes are good. If in doubt, do a water change. It can only help.
Sounds like you didn't cycle the tank properly? Bio Spira will help, as Puffer Archer has already said.
You're GSP will eventually need a much larger tank...30 gallons for a single individual.

The tank was an established tank running for about 6 months. I even used matured filter media and water from his old tank. Thought I was doing everything right.... BTW I can not find biospira anywhere here in Lincoln NE........ Well anyhow I will keep up with the water changes until things stabilize.

Yeah, check those ammonia levels twice daily and do at least one water change daily. Hooty will need that 30G, though. How long is he?
It might also be an idea to reduce his feeding till those levels are right..either the volume or frequency, as it'll keep the water a bit cleaner for him till you get your good bugs sorted.

Hooty is only about an 1 1/2 inches long....Still a little guy.... they are very slow growers. He will be moved up to a bigger tank in the not to distant future. He does not have any tankmates, just the occassional ghost shrimp or snail that survives. Going to check the amm level now and another water change. Should I add just fresh water or should I mix up some salt water?

I'd get some B-S as soon as possible. After ammonia comes nitrItes--just as bad. You can have it in a few days if ordered here:

Unless you are intentionally raising or lowering the SG, you should try to match the current water parameters of your tank as close as possible. Changing the SG at this point more than .002/week will prolong the time required for the tank to cycle properly.
