Here's my new guy, a little Ceylon that I traveled quite a long distance to get. He's fantastic, lots of character and personality!

His name is Pudgie, and he's got some tankmates (GSP's) aka The Dirgibles.

Awww! he's lovely worth the trip I hope lol! Where are you getting your Palembang from?

The Palembang is coming from Maidenhead Aquatics down in Guildford, but they are supposed to put it in with the courier that's going to the Trowell location in Notts. They were supposed to do that on this past Tuesday night, but someone didn't do it, that's why I now have to wait until this coming Wednesday to go and get it.

And yes, Pudgie is definitely worth the trip, he's a right character, but I fell in love with him immediately!

Yeah well the little poop bit me yesterday when I was cleaning his tank!

I didn't even see it coming, he just came up and took a taste of one of my fingers, then came to the front of the tank as if to say, "I'm hungry, if you feed me I won't have to do those things!"

He's very cute and somewhat persuasive, but I can't give in, the Dirgibles (GSP's) are looking like little balloons as it is.

Aw wow he sounds fantastic - did the bite hurt? One of my dwarves bit me and I laughed so much because barely felt it and then he went to sulk. How big is he compared to your GSPS. I know Ceylons get bigger, but was curious if they were on par at the moment?:)

It did hurt yes, and although it didn't break the skin, it left a welt for some hours afterwards.

My Ceylon is about 4-inches long and taller than the others. The GSP's are about 2-inches or a little less. I will have to step up to a bigger tank when the Dirgibles grow to be the size of Pudgie. They all get along though, but Pudgie is definitely the king of the tank, he eats first, then them.

The smallest one that bit me was my other Congo (the one that died), she came over and bit my hand when I was installing a new plant on bogwood. It didn't hurt, and I'm sure she was just curious. It didn't seem like an attack. I've never had my DP's or the other smaller puffers bite me at all. The first bite was from my suvattii and that really hurt, but that one wasn't that big either. I can't imagine how it would feel to be bitten by a Fahaka, or a bigger MBU, must really be horrible because I think these little guys can inflict a nasty bite if they really want to. I have learned that I need to be more careful with my hands in the tank now.

LOL least it does teach us that they can get wild and to act with caution! No I really would not want to think about a giant giving a bite! shudder..

Have to have whole tank shots soon! They are all such cuties. Congrats on you new babies and bet you are super excited (and slightly frustrated) about getting your Palembang!!

Yes, it was a bit of a disappointment that I had to put off getting the Palembang, it was out of my control, hopefully I will him Wednesday. But to console myself, I went and bought another Congo puffer to replace the one that died on a me a couple of weeks ago. She's a real cutie too! Haven't got any pics of her yet, just got her yesterday.

Don't forget that the GSPs and the Ceylon won't always be compatible. It's finally been proven that GSPs should be taken to full marine conditions as they reach adulthood, and of course the Ceylon won't like that.

My Ceylon has been in full marine for a few months now and is thriving. And I do mean thriving: he's growing like a weed!

Well I hate to disappoint, but I don't plan on going full marine for either of my puffers. I know someone that's had a Ceylon for several years and has only ever had theirs in brackish water. I just don't have any desire to get involved in marine tanks. If I did, it would be seahorses, or dog-faced puffers that I'd be after.
But I'm sure that Pudgie and his Dirgibles will be very happy where they are.
