NORMAL?

Ever since i changed my tank around and gave my puffers more interesting territory, they stopped doing the swimming up and down the tank, but are now swimming at the top of the tank, not gulping air per-say, but just like goldfish go for the flakes, is that normal? However they do explore everything also....

That doesn't sound strange to me, it sounds like they want you to feed them.

As long as they don't look ill or stressed, then I wouldn't worry.

That's what mine do. They go crazy if I open the top.

Mine do that too. I think they do it more when they''re comfortable that they're not going to be eaten and have good hidey holes. Make sure you had a lid in case they decide to go flying.

Well I knew puffers were cool, but they can fly??? I only have a light strip across the top of my f8's tank...am I risking him taking a flyer?

Oh, definitely get a top or lid for the tank. They do jump very well.

One of my F8s loves leaping out of the water and back in again (I think he likes the feel of it - it's certainly not because he's been scared) so a tight fitting lid is essential. He also loves rubbing his fat belly up against the glass when he's telling me he wants feeding (which is nearly all the time). Strange little things...
I'd say yours have learned a begging trick already!
