Ok so Naboo's freaking me out!

I walked over to the tank and was shocked to see Naboo looking like he only had 1 eye! His left eye wasn't even there, it just looked like skin had healed over it. I imediatly thought he'd fallen asleep against the heater and it had melted his eye over.

Seconds later his eye reappeared from his head, I watched him and he kept sucking it in a little way and the letting it go back to normal

Here's a vid, he doesn't suck it right in but you get the idea

He saeems fine and doesn't seem to be in any pain

I've read threads of peoples Dogface puffers sucking their fins in but has anyone seen their puffer do this?

I've just looked at him again and he's doing it with his right eye to?!

Elvis and Annabelle have both done this. I have no idea why! :) Elvis has done it maybe twice, and Annabelle once.

That is weird. does it happen as he swims along side the glass? as dwaine seems to retract his eyes a little when he swims alongside the tank maybe it just pushes em in a little. Cant really tell from the video

I've seen both Homer and Marge do the same thing on separate occasions... no idea what it means or why they do it though...

It seems to be pretty common for puffers to do this. Nothing to worry about, so long as otherwise he's acting normal.

Haha! Look's pretty creepy :S

Just want to point one thing out, you wrote: "I imediatly thought he'd fallen asleep against the heater and it had melted his eye over." The heater is constantly cooled and don't get warmer than the surrounding water :)

Hey Biocellatus, yeah very creepy looking :D

If you touch your heater it's actually hot even though it's underwater, you can see the heat waves coming off of it. If it's one like mine you can adjust how warm you want the water and the heater will then turn on and off to keep the water at that temp. When it's on it can be quite hot even though it's under water

There's quite a lot of accidents with Plectostomus sucker fish getting stuck to them
