Raising brine shrimp

Hey,
My puffs just love hunting live brine shrimp so I would like to raise my own. I bought a bag of live brine shrimp and within 2 days there were loads of little baby brine shrimp swimming around (still in the bag I bought them in!) and there are alot of adults with what looks like egg sacs attached to them.

1. Has anyone bred them this way, starting with adults? or just with dried eggs?

2. Since brine shrimp live in salt water and my puffs are fresh, could this cause them any problems? I use a pippete to squirt the brine shrimp into the tank, so some salty water goes in too.

3. Should I maybe sieve the shrimp so none of the salt water goes in the tank? but then there is always the concern of salt content in the actual shrimp, since its not a natural food for my puffs...

What do you guys think? am I thinking about this too much lol! :?

Hey Mysifier
I've raised them from dried eggs in 22hrs using the method in the link below, it's really easy. I still have a small jiffy bag of dried egg's and the salt that you add to the water, if you want them PM me and I'll post them to you (I noticed you live in England, I'm posting stuff all the time so it's not a problem, don't worry about money they didn't cost that much)

I wouldn't worry about this as it's such a small amount of salt water going into your FW tank.

Same as 2, plus BrineShrimp are fed to FW fish all over the world so I wouldn't worry about them being Brackish animals

Yeah I'd say you're worring to much :D

BTW I've read that people that breed Betta's/Sieamese Fighters take the yolk out of a boiled egg and then put it in a spray bottle (see pic below) with tank water and shake it up. Then you jusy spray the egg solution onto the water surface and the egg yourk powder is so fine/small that the baby larve can eat it. I'm sure this should work for Puffer Larve

Edit
I just realised you're not asking about feeding your Puffer Larve

That'd be great, if more people manage to do this I may get a new small tank and do it myself in the future :D
