Hi!

I have one male and two female carinotetraodon (lorteti or irrubesco, I don´t know) for two months and yesterday I noticed that the male attacked a female, and danced with another. I took a female to another tank and left the couple alone.The male was dark red and he danced a lot to the female, and chasing but not hurt.
Two hours after the fish are placed between the plants and left hundreds of eggs around the aquarium.
The male started to eat eggs, so I put the fishes in another aquarium.
How long it takes to be born?

Not long... Start raising insuforia with Liquifry for egglayers. The fry are gonna be tiny!

For closely related Carinotetraodon species it takes 60 to 72 for the fry to hatch, which are about 2 mm long. They can eat freshly hatched Cyclops (and infusoria of similar size) after their yolk is used up (about day 2 or 3). freshly hatched Artemia are too large in the beginning.

Take care so they are not filtered out, but still have enough oxygen to avoid fungus.

i have never heard of this species being breeded in captivitiy.
would you mind to tell us something more like water parameters, tanksize, food, any changes in the last days before that?
maybe someone else could learn from that!

water parameters: Tª:26º; PH:7.2; NO3:0; KH:1; GH:1
tanksize: 118 l
food: frozen artemia and mysis
any changes in the last days before that? yes, a change of 30 liters 3 days before. 30 liters will generally change every week

Yes

Those foods will not be small enough for the fry, which will look like specks of dust. Have you started adding the Liquifry to the tank? I'm afraid it may be too late to find food small enough for the new hatchlings. Maybe the next spawning.

My female lorteti spawned & layed hundreds of eggs. After 3 times, she killed her mate. Never had a single fry survive.
