SAP fascinated by gravel vac

My SAPs have a developed a fascination with the gravel vac. Have had them for over 1yr. but until last week they ignored the vac- could clean the gravel and then let it in the tank for the WC and go get other things ready. Now I have to watch the vac - the little buggers swim into it

. Last week I did my normal and walked away to get the Prime- came back over and one was sucked up and puffing in the vac

. Stopped the vac and shook him out- he is ok. Now this week another one tried the same thing- stopped the vac before he got stuck. Don't understand it. Tank has lots of plants and other decorations but these silly fish go for the vac. Are they just that curious?

How big are they? Still small? Maybe you could put some sort of mesh, partway up the end that you put in the tank, with biggish holes for debris.

They might like the feel of the suction/current in the water?!

Maybe it's the moon! I had the same problem with the last two water change's I've done in my community tank. Two different Angel fish took a ride up the tube!

I thought they were stuck for sure! Never had a problem before, then all of a sudden "UP" they go!

Bordem, curious or just plain stupid!

Like the moon thing. They do like to play in the current from the HOB and canister filters (outlet are in the same area). Have had smaller fish do the tube luge (danios can be stupid) as well as small snails.
