Greetings All- I was walking past ARIK's tank this morning when I noticed something odd. So i turned the light's on and snapped a few pictures. These white dots look more like pin head size than sugar (ICH!!) size. After the lights were on for a few minutes the pinheads started to recede...any idea what this is??

--------- But I have noticed that at night when my dogface (Blondie) is resting he is the color of hot chocolate, when up and moving the color of cream.

I think it is camo to blend in at night.

My guess would be that they are his spines!
My puffer spines are visible sometimes if they have puffed!

I agree with blondenblue, it is probably the spines. It looks too perfect to be a disease. I first saw it and i was thinking he looks covered in fine bubbles. Plus they are all about where the spines should be anyways

It definately looks like his spines.

Why they are looking like that, I have no idea.. I've never kept a dogface and I'm just not sure about it.

I'm going to move this to the marine puffer section so more dogface owners might see it.

Those are definitely spines. Perhaps he had puffed just earlier and was receding as you caught him.

Yes they are definitely spines my dogface use to get them all the time. With the dark coloring of the this puffer they do certainly stand out more.

He is gorgeous! Yeah, I thought it was bubbles, too.
