Hey Guy's
I've seen some people keep GSP's with other SW puffers before and I was wondering if it would be ok to house a GSP with a Papuan Toby?
Thanks

You should know by now that GSPs are nippy. Each GSP has a different personality, so the ones you see may be very calm, while the one you may get is a large fin nipper.

It depends on the personality of the GSP. Maybe in a 55g or larger, with a TON of decor.

It would be in a 50g and I'd have loads of plastic plants and LR with hiding places
My LFS is pretty good, I would be able to take the GSP back if it was vicious

I had my gsps with my valentini in a 200g. My gsps are normally very wimpy and non agressive, but they started to attack my valentini which was twice their size. So my gsps went back into their old tanks. I guess you never can tell with gsps.

on a general note, i would be conerned with plastic plants in saltwater since saltwater is rather corrosive and im not sure what types of stuff is released from those platsic plants when the saltwater gets to them.
i kept a valentini and papauan toby in a 30g tank..for less than 12 hours. i had the valentini for months and no issues. added the papuan toby and the tank crashed and i lost everything except a false perc.
i would discourage mixing puffers unless the tank is super large (same idea as mixing clown species!)

Why would you put plastic decor in a salt water tank? Get live rocks and corals.

If you're that low budget, then you won't have the money to upkeep the tank.

Yeah like I said I've got Live Rock but was going to use plastic plants as it's going to be a fish only setup, corals require expensive lighting plus the puffers would eat it. to be honest I don't really like the look of most SW tanks, I think LR is pretty ugly. You have to have a lot of corals etc before it starts to look nice.
As for the plastic plants in SW my LFS has fake rubber corals so maybe I'll go for them and some silk fake plants
