Hi all,

New to forum, but we have two wee GSPs (Lenny and Lorca) which we got on sunday (mother's day present for my mum off me, my sis and her bloke, mum's always wanted pufferfish), we are absolutely mesmerised! I was worried as I hadn't seen Lorca eat since Monday, so we tootled off to get a testing kit and found we had nitrites and ammonia. Did a 30ish% water change today and almost immediately Lorca perked up and decimated a woodlouse, so I'll be doing W/C every other day from now on! I am so relieved and happy now, I thought I would share She is now chilling out in the tunnel-log thing and Lenny is having fun playing with the bubbles from the bubbler.

Next on the list is a bigger tank that we will cycle for 3 weeks and then put the babies in, I can't wait, we wont need a TV anymore

Hehe, the only problem now is that our cats are jealous that they aren't the centre of attention anymore

How large are the tanks?

i'm not entirely sure, to be honest, i was gonna ask how big the new one should be, so that we can get one that will fit them when they are full grown? We're gonna get that next week, as we realise it's a case of sooner rather than later that we need to move them up!

Oh, and thanks for the welcome I have been reading everything on here this week and I must say that I've found all the info really helpful!

It needs to be a 60 gallon plus sized tank, and it will eventually need to get to a high brackish/marine environment.

Yeah we have the marine salt so we'll start raising the SG, got a hydrometer too so we can measure, thanks for the info on the size, i'll start researching them and see what i can find

You feed them woodlice? Interesting.

You can do a 55 gallon plus for the two gsp.
They get pretty big, Im sure if they are small, they would like the big tank.

Haha yeah they love the woodlice, I'm not too sure I can deal with feeding them live things but I'll just block it out
They are pretty small right now, but we want our babies to be happy and grow big, so a big ol' 60g tank it is hehe.

60gallons is good for them.
theres many things you can feed the GSP's
Blood worms
Black worms
shrimp
snails
clams
mussel
-what your feeding them
and some other stuff.

For some reason my puffers dislike bloodworms!? Weirdos heh. We are trying to give them as varied a diet as possible, we're getting some shrimpy things off my sister's boyfriend this afternoon, so that's another new dish on the menu. Oh and I need to go snail hunting later, the only snails i could find the other day were the size of my eye, never mind the puffer's

Never cook the food for your puffer.
Well I had/have lil' pond snails some place in my 12gallon.
Ebay sells them I think(ram horn snails)
