sorry guys this may be a stupid question,
i just need to know if i have a fresh water tank and im going to slowly turn it to brackish
what reading should my hydrometer start at?
i brought one and realised when i got home that the mesurements started at 1.010

do the mesurements of salinity start at 1.000 or 0? if that makes sence to anybody else

Yes, freshwater will start at 1.000 SG.

Can you exchange that hydrometer at the LFS? The Instant Ocean ones start at 1.000.

nah they wont let me trade it back in because its been removed from the packaging, even tho i clearly specified what i needed it for, and the bloke said it was the best for the job. i suppose it was my fault i shouldnt have listened to him at all after he told me "just pour a cup and a half of marine salt directly in the tank with the fish in it" lucky i knew better, cant immagine the amount of advice this guy would have given to customers that sent theyre fish straight to its death

Yup, you've got the wrong hydrometer.
