This morning while observing my 2 feet (56 liters) puffer tank, I saw a thin white worm swimming in the tank and there is also a circular white stuff with a lot of tiny tentacles or feelers moving across the surface of the tank.When to my room to grab my camera phone but by the time I got back they are all gone.

Anyone know what are they? And are they harmful to my arrowhead?


Details: Freshwater, planted with some java moss on a coconut, a Crinum calamistratum, six Pygmy Chain Swords and a small Anubias. Salvinas and Frogbits covering 2/3 of the tank surface. Using 55 watt, fertilizer and added liquid carbon just yesterday. No water change for the past 2 weeks.

Although i can't say for sure, the thin white worms maybe from over-feeding or from too much excess food sitting in your sand / gravel... Normally cutting down on feedings a bit, and giving the gravel a good clean will help cut back on some of the worms till they all die out... oh and to answer your question, the thing white worms don't normally effect fish ( i think)...

I don't think is over feeding as I feed my arrowhead 3 times a week. Most likely will be the left over food but from my observation there is just not much food left.

it can be from particles of the food that fall and lodge into the rock...the pieces don't have to be very big to grow uglies in the tank......

Thin, small, white worms are found in many aquariums...from what I've read, they're nematodes and are harmless.

i onyl feed my arrows half - 3/4 a king prawn each once a week ( although yesterday the female took both peices and is as fat as butter.......) and the male refused to eat asso il ltry him later
