hey, i was on the beach yesterday looking for crabs to feed my octopus, i came across a puffer fish (they are extremely common here) and decided to catch it because my 3 foot tank was empty. its only quite small and ive never seem them get very big ,i have 6 foot tank, a 4 foot sump and have a 3 foot tank that connects to my sump that i keep feeder animals in.

im mainly after a scientific name because although ive grown up with them ive never been able to find anything on them, but if anyone can give me any advice on feeding ill be grateful. at the moment it has a fairly large crab leg to gnaw on and is alone in the tank. if its not suitable for keeping i can easily take it back to the beach and let it go any day of the week. ive always thought they were kind of neat though and wouldnt mind keeping it. i attached a photo (my tank is kind of dirty looking at the moment after it overflowed and caused a huge spill on the carpet, but the water quality is fine.

I want to say Takifugu oblongus but I'm not 100%. Corvus would be able to id it.

looks like a t.hamiltony to me.
if it is one, it needs sand to bury in. it usually lives in schools.
could you please try to make better pictures?

hey everyone, thanks for the help. i do believe it is hamiltoni, but i have yet to see it even try to bury itself. it eats as soon as there is food in the tank though so i dont think its stressed. ill attach another photo, and one of the octopus by request. its a bit off shot but the octopus was more interested in holding onto my hand than taking the crab from it tonight. i havent been able to identify it either. thats the problem with being able to catch things locally, there are so many species around here its impossible to know what your going to get most of the time.
