Hey, i got 4 DP's yesterday after lots of waiting, they are facination little guys, they are very small 1/2'' ish, is it possible to sex them at this age? 3 definatly seem to have more pronounced coloring and one is more a ''tea'' color could that mean i have 3F 1M >?

also, do they normaly take dries bloodworm? i put some in and one ate them all and the others ignored them.... i have some frozen bloodworms for them to try when i get home, should they be better with those?

also, do they mind moonlighting? im thinking about setting up a blue light for viewing at night :)

Here's a link with pictures that will show you how to sex dwarf puffers. I'm not sure if you will be able to sex them until they get a little larger. :D

It may take a few days for the other's to start eating. They will need time to settle in. Moonlights are great, I have them on all my tanks. The fish don't mind them at all. :D

Use a rubberband to attach it. The bad news: the puffer would have been ill to get stuck to the filter intake.
Unless it's an extremely powerful filter.
The good news: Most puffers can get away from it if they do get stuck, if they are healthy.

they are very small, around 1/3'' atm, and he was stuck in the side, right where flow is great as its right next to the impeller, will make it safer tomorrow though.....how long do puffers take to grow to maturity?

I'm not sure about dwarf puffers growth rate. Someone else will have to answer that one. :)

i got 4 dwarfs at the same time and they were sooo tiny. i would guess about 1/2 of an inch...that was in april of last year. they are now all at 1inch....i was given another little guy and he's 1 inch too....so if that tells ya somewhat of how fast mine grew....i did put a sponge over the intake for fear that they would get sucked up when they were so tiny.

mine only pace when they're bored... which is very rarely.

move their plants and rocks around? see if that helps. :)
