I wanted to raise Crays myself
which are the best kind to breed?
And how do you tell what sex they are?
How long do they take to breed?
How long do they take to have babies?
How long do they take to grow to 2 inches?
My lfs has Blue Crays but the guy working there doesn't know the difference between male and females?
thanks

blues are the only crays that are legal in the uk. any other species is illegal and carries up to a 5 year prison term for keeping. blue crays eat there young or anything smaller and grow huge so not practicl.
now on the otherhand in the USA you can get marbles that are all female and reproduce A sexually at a alarming rate..... any ,bu / fahaka owners dream =)

Ok guys, my crayfish venture didn't work out so well...all of my newly hatch babies died within 24 hours

I do not know how to tell a male from a female until they begin to get eggs under their tails then I mark them and seperate them...I think that raising the crays is going to be way too hard for me at this time on the other hand since the weather here in Kentucky has been so nice my husband and I have been able to capture all the crays we need so no more paying 1.50 each at the LFS at least until the end of summer

I think I need to read up on raising crays some more, they are so aggressive (not as bad as my fahakah) but they do kill and eat each other and it's much too hard to have seperate tanks for them. Here is some of our findings from last week I think that us going out and catching our own has been really good for our family.some great time to enjoy nature and each other!

We also have a queen snake that eats 70% diet of crayfish so that's one animal that we don't have to purchas food for as much. I'd like to see some wildlife that people around the country find! so if you have any photos please share! we do herpetology and love seeing things from diff parts thanks a bunch!
