After reading lots of posts and articles (mainly on here), I think I would like to get a f8. I am now trying to decide what type of tank and decor I should go with. I'll be getting a 20 gallon, but what would be best: a regular, long, or tall 20 gallon? Would two f8's be alright, or would one f8 with a couple of BBG's be better?

As for substrate, I know aragonite is best, since it keeps the water at a steady ph of 8. My water comes out of the tap at pH 8, and it also fairly hard ( I can't remember what the exact ppm is though). Should I still use the aragonite, eventhough the pH is already 8?

I have been contemplating giving the tank a saltwater look (fake coral, etc). What about real shells and coral (dead, of course)? Would that raise the hardness or pH too much?

Has anyone seen those SpongeBob Jellyfish that dance in the airbubbles? Has anyone put them in a puffer tank?

I would still use the aragonite, in case the pH of your tap water fluctuates. keeping it steady is most important. I actually have my F8 tank decorated w/fake corals & such & shells, so you'll be fine w/that. Never had any moving ornaments in my tanks though...

You could put 2 F8s only.

I've seen them in DP tanks, and the fish loved chasing them around.

Whether Raphael knows what he is talking about or not, personal attacks will not be tolerated on this board. Tone it down, rephrase it or take it off-line.

There is a distinct difference between good natured ribbing or a statement of personal opinion and a personal attack. The first two are acceptable as long as they do not go too far or get too personal. The latter is not acceptable--ever. Let's just keep things civil at all times and try to learn from each other.

I admit that they are stetching it a little, I dont like to do it, I've known him for years, hes a really good friend. It's just one of those things, lets let it go. (i will edit a little).

Uh, just to remind you of what some of my original questions were that weren't covered quite yet, which is better for the puffers, long, tall, or regular tanks? And would it best to have two f8's in the twenty, or one f8 with a couple (1-3) BBGs (in terms of territory space)? And I have read that the fate of the BBG would depend on the individual puffer.

Longer (bigger footprint--more swimming room) is always best for puffers. Either 2 F8s, or 1 w/bbgs--you're taking a chance on either not working... You just can't tell w/puffers...
