I too the hour and a half drive to Petsmart in shreveport La. I picke dup 3 DPs, 10 ghost shrimp, some more anachris and some dwarf sag.

I put the three DPs and 7 ghost shrimp into the 29 gallon, along with al lthe plants, and the remaining 3 shrimp went in to the 10 gallon wit hall the snails.

Well the 29 has it it 5 mature female guppies, 2 mature male guppies, 2 immature female guppies, 2 albino cory cats, 1 red-fin shark, 1 5 inch pleco.

On monday the cories will go into hte 10 gallon. The guppies will all go to the fish store, and the apple snail also in teh tank will go to the 10 gallon for now.

If there are problems, the red-fin will go to the 10 for a bit., and the pleco I hope can jsut tough it out. once I can find some amano shrimp, they will go into the 29 as well.

the DPs look fed right now, tehy havent eaten anything yet, but the only options they have are the flake being fed to the guppies and the few hitchhiker snails I have. (I have more snails myself I am breeding, but why put those in if there are ones in there already.)

the DPs are between 1/4 inch and 1/2 inch, and cannot be sexed as of yet. when they can be, I am geting more DPs for the tank, and will try to achieve a goal of 2 males and 5 females. if I have 3 males right now, I will sell one and jsut by 5 more and do this untilk I have the required numbers.

How big are the ghost shrimp? I bought some that were feeders, I think. They were sold by the dozen. I bought half a dozen, dumped them in the puffer tank. They all became lunch. I'm not sure if ghost shrimp are a normal DP food, or if that just happened because I've got a super-hungry DP that is pretty close to the full 1 inch that DP's are supposed to get.

You better keep your puffers well fed, or the shrimp in a different aquarium if they are meant as pets!

Chalk it up to puffers all having their own personalities or something I guess. We made the mistake of buying this one super small, super cute DP. We went away on a long weekend and he was missing when we got back. I think that big DP of ours never took the vow from Finding Nemo "Fish are friends, not food."

We have two amano shrimp in our DP tank and they remain unmolested.

Also, they are some of the finickiest eaters on the planet and prone (especially the ones we got from PEtsmart) to parasites.

I'd go ahead if you can and treat them proactively.
