Ceylon puffed!

My boyfriend got me a new little ceylon puffer on valentines day, who I named "Valentine" ... go figure.
He is so cute, very curious and hungry! Anyway so I noticed him the other day puffing up, which I was like "OMG!!" because I have never once seen my GSP puff. He didn't have any spikes though and really wasn't startled by anything, so maybe he was practicing.
So today, my cat jumped on the table and Valentine saw him and swam away, stared at him for a minute and then POOF! He didn't puff for long but luckily I had a camera near me, so I got a picture!
The picture is terrible, but its the best I could do at the time =) Look at all those little spikes! The funny thing is he stared my cat down for a while before he even puffed!!

Awesome picture! Did your cat puff up too? Kind of like a Puff Out at the OK Coral!

Cool! I've never seen a puffed ceylon before, so this was quite an experience. I wouldn't suspect it to have so long spines!

LOL my cat loves to torchure my flag fish which is in a smaller tank next to my puffer tank, and this time he got to see a puffer and it was quite a sight! I was actually taking pictures of jewelry for my business when it happened so it couldn't have been a better opportunity!!
Valentine is only about 1.5", he makes my GSP look like a giant and hes only about 3"...so he is still very small, he has such a personality!

Superb! Valentine remains a cute little puffer even when he's trying to be scary

Wow, what HUGE spikes he has! I never would have guessed a ceylon would spike out that far. Great photo!
We should add a photo album of "Puffed Puffer photos".. only allowed if the puffers were not provoked into puffing and maybe people can satisfy their curiousity that way instead of trying to get their puffer to puff up so they can "see what it looks like".

i agree, it will save alot of stress on the fish for people who just "have" to see them puff up.
