We went to a reptile expo today and found this cool little thing used in reptile tanks. I thought it'd make a great thing to hide a small to med bubble strip. the seller said it was aquarium safe and it's heavy enough to stay on the bottom..i'm not sure where else they sell them but thought it was a good idea and wanted to share!

Is it hollowed-out choya wood?

I have no idea...well i don't think it's wood seems to be manufactored but there are no stamps on it..it works well for covering the bubble strip up

Yeah, it doesn't look like real cholla, the holes look too uniform. Great idea to use it for covering the bubble strip! How does it look in the tank, got any pics?

Choya can have really uniform holes, but if it's real, you'd know it - it would be very obvious. Very light and porous and woody.

Naw it's pretty heavy, stays at the bottom good. I think it looks alot better i'll post pics when i'm off work!

Yeah definitely not cholla, I know what you mean about the holes, but that just looked too sort of "perfect" to me. Anyway I was thinking, it would also make a nice little tunnely, cavey type thing for smaller fish. You could even get two and glue them together and stand it upright. Might be interesting.

yeah might be a good way to cover up filter tubes and stuff...

I was actually thinking about getting a piece of cholla for my tank about a week ago, but decided it would fall apart, or never sink. good find
