I just got a Mbu and was wondering How you can tell what sex it is

You can't, actually. Not unless you dissect it, and I don't think you want to do that.

This is true.

It's what ever you say it is. Then you have a 50/50 chance of getting it right.

Could always watch for what bathroom he/she chooses.

Well, that's not always reliable now and days....

You could technically have an ultrasound performed, but its both expensive and dangerous for the puffer (since you have to remove them from the tank and sedate them).

I would stick with the coin approach.

I've been watching and looking at a lot of pix and vids of Mbu's and I was just wondering whether the shape of the head had anything to do with the sex?!

The reason I say this is because some of the larger Mbus I've been looking at side on have a rounded head like the end of a french stick/bagget and others have more face structure where you can see the shape of the face ie the eyes stick out more like a frog and the mouth is like a snout

I'm not sure though whether the rounded face version is maybe just fatter and so you cannot see the bone structure

You cannot tell the difference from the exterior.

Must be hard for a Mbu when trying to find a mate

I'm sure they have fishie sense.

Or maybe they just say

You show me yours and I'll show you mine

You could always take it out to diner and a movie with dancing and a nice walk on the beach to follow. Glass of wine for you and a shrimp cocktail for the Mbu down by the surf...
