I come home from work and take a seat infront of my 55 gallon tank. I notice a gsp missing. I look under all cracks and caves.
THEN
I find him on the floor. He jumped out during the day and laid there to die. About 3 feet from the tank. He was biggest GSP.

Get a cover on there. Do you think there's something making them jump? If so, you could post in the Hospital forum.

Poor thing, sorry for you loss.

I would get a cover before the other one jumps out.

Sometimes fish get flinchy if they feel exposed and stressed, and other times they're just jumpy. Sorry to hear about your loss
My Ceylons jump all the time, even when lights come on/off, but my Manilensis (other puffer with the 2 Ceylons) rarely jumps at all. I think GSPs and Ceylons are just easy to startle.
