Dosing Gel-tek

Well, after reading Annabelles' plight and the recommendation about worming every 3-4 months, I decided that I'd grab some Ultra Cure PX and do a pre-emptive strike on Ting-Ting. I just got the meds and was wondering the best way to dose. My plan is to thaw a shrimp, dry it and then soak it in meds and feed. Do you think this would be an appropriate way? Should I dose on a 3 day schedule or is a one day enough. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Whoops, BTW, Ting-Ting is a Fahaka, currently about 8-9 inches.

I would worry about leaving a shrimp out on a counter to dry - it will probably spoil, so don't do it that way. But in general the idea sounds good...what might work is if you dry it in the oven at a low temperature. I would butterfly it, too, in order to expose as much surface area to the meds as possible.

I defrost the food in a cup of tank water, add the meds, let it soak for about 30 min. before feeding. Use just enough tank water to cover the shrimp. After soaking take the shrimp out and feed as normal. Another thing you could do is put it in the refigerator overnight to soak. And yes do this for 3 days in a row. :D

Follow the package's reccomendation for full dosing schedule. Repeat this every 3-4 months.

I just thawed whatever I was going to feed that day (bloodworms, shrimp pieces, etc) in a small amount of tank water, added the Gel Tek, soaked for 15+ minutes, and then fed. I did this for 3 days in a row.

Is this Gel-Tek easy to find at a LFS? What are other brand/names for this stuff?

If you can find it grab it. It's made by Gel-Tek : Ultra Cure PX. Almost every place on the internet is sold out or it's on clerance. I tried to email the company but my email was returned unable to send. I saw on petsolutions.com that they have some coming in around 2/12/09. Here's the link:
